Day 4. technically 5

Dear world,

I missed last night’s picture because art history pulled me away from drawing a picture right up til the last minute. But never fear I will always post. It just might be a little late. Anyways. I was going to stay up all night finishing art history. But the Gods have told me to STOP DOING WORK AND DO SOMETHING FUN!!!!!  So I am. Because my internet is working clearly, but the site that is running my art history is not. So I’m glad that I posted what I needed to. I’ll just work on it tomorrow morning. All is well.

IMG_2178 Bye the way. Drinking green tea and eating a huge dark chocolate candy bar will keep you awake for awhile.

Until later today.

Day 3 in the drawing challenge!

Dear world,

Today was a crap day. It was a day of tests, long lectures and logging. Look at all those long lists of L’s. Just kidding I’ll stop with Ling. L Cut!!sorry.. that was an editing reference..

“A kiss is a lovely trick, designed by nature, to stop words when speech becomes unnecessary. “ -Ingrid Bergman I think art is alot like that. Words shouldn’t be needed to explain what the picture must say.

A little bit of tea shall we

Quote of the day:
Every composer knows the anguish and despair occasioned by forgetting ideas which one had no time to write down. - Hector Berlioz

Dear World,

I hope you are well today. It’s some of my favorite weather. Rain. The peaceful sounds on my window comfort me. Does rain do that to you? I’m trying something new, where I’m just going to post the quote of the day on the top. This quote has defined what’s been going on this week. I just need to get into the habit of writing down any idea that comes to my head. It doesn’t have to be apart of anything. It just needs to be written. Ideas come to you for a reason, it’s a stream of conscience that once put together form a beautiful idea. Most of my writing happens like that. Thirty ideas get written down, then one day I have my story like magic in my head. Tomorrow is pretty exciting because on my film show an animator from South Park is doing an interview on my radio show. Tune in at www.scadradio.org from 6-8pm EST. I also am interviewing a SCAD student  editor. So, it’s a double header. Eventually I’m going to post all of these interviews in a podcast. I just got to figure out how to do it.

This coming month is a Love month. So every day in February I’m going to be talking about a few things I love.  That should be enjoyable.

Take care dear world,

Coffee Pots, blenders and waffles

Dear world,
Have you ever had a day where you say. "I give up. Let's do this" I didn't exactly have a day like that, but I did. I made strawberry smoothies and had waffles at 4 in the afternoon. For no other reason then. I want to eat them. And they were delicious. In other news, I finished my feature length screenplay and it was like airing out an old sneaker. Refreshing once you got the rocks out of it. Now, I'm ever always making short scripts and telling myself that "this is the next one that I'm actually turning into a movie" but it never happens. I think procrastination creeps upon me and pulls me down into a terrible pit, drowning in an ocean we call life. Was that dramatic enough for you? Do you like the circus readers? Cause the circus is in town for just a bit longer and it makes me happy. There is something so magical about the circus that I can't describe. I think that's why I'm writing a short about it.

By the way. Dreams do come true. You just got to believe they will happen

Dear world,
Do you ever get so busy that you forget what day it is? Is that what college is like? I love pause moments to reflect on life and how it's running. A sad fact that I can't manage much writing when I have three intense classes going on at the same time. Now that those classes have disappeared, time for some good old writing. I feel like I have a pile of ideas and now is the time to write them all down.
Why is the act of separating from someone so difficult, yet once it happens everything can sorta go back to normal? I hate saying good bye even if it's for a little while. I should just tell them to enjoy the rest of their day. Or something. I think saying good bye has a bad connotation because it means that person is leaving your life. Even if that's not true it is. In a sense.
So, today. I forget about good byes and just focus on hellos. And when the next time I'll be seeing that someone whoever it might be again soon.

So I sign off knowing that saying good bye isn't what's important. It's how you felt afterward that matters.

Go find a baseball or something for me.

Starting over again

Dear World,
I don't believe I've hit a rut in my writing process. But, I've realized that I'm completely starting over a screenplay that I've rewritten a million times. The writing process is such a weird thing. It's as if to go forwards you have to take five steps backwards. It feels right though, for the script. I often am wondering if this is how writers really do it. They think they have this great idea, think it's polished and realize they have to start over because much is wrong with it. I know I feel like this. But it's sort of a liberating feeling to start over. I know the story I want to write and there will be some of the same pieces in it. But in essence the scenes will be new. There will be a more clearer theme and purpose to this script.
A professor once told me about the creative process. It starts off in the land of I have an idea, floats towards a period of distinct confusion and challenges, then there is this middle ground of potential, and after that there is usually a break through of the real idea. And then there is where the idea is flowing and nothing can stop you from creating it. For some reason I always have thought that this process was very quick. That I'd get to the top part of this diagram quick. That's it's easy to get to this heaven in so many words. It's taken me two years to get to this point. I still might have to go through this process again in this draft of the script. And once again, I feel as though the title I have for it will change. As if changing the title signifies a different period this story is going.
"I don't want to live. I want to love first, and live incidentally." Zelda Fitzgerald
I think Zelda has picked my mood for the night. This next draft is going to be solid. And I'm not afraid to work with a bunch of dirt to make it beautiful again.
